This has been taken care of in the movie but the main big flaw which I spotted and which drives some scenes in the movie is that….
To show the correct settings of that time period which is around 10yrs back, the movie correctly shows the number plates of the vehicles in the format of ‘white numbers on black background’. Thus, the college part of the movie is set in that time. So, that means considering the fact that the characters are excellent in their studies, they have entered the engineering college somewhere in the late 90’s.
